Dear Midwinter Bluegrass Family,

Midwinter Bluegrass Festival has always been driven by a shared love for bluegrass, hotel hallway jams, and the community that gathers every February. The purpose has never been about making a profit. Every single dollar goes directly back into bringing great bands to the stage, running the event, and keeping this tradition alive. Our focus has always been, and continues to be, creating a community event that lifts the bluegrass scene in Colorado.

Like many small, independent music events, we’ve been feeling the pinch of rising production costs and general economic pressures. There is a real conversation about the viability of the festival given the current climate and the level of support for gatherings like Midwinter. When we realized that the Super Bowl also landed on festival weekend for 2027, we found ourselves debating about whether or how to move forward.

We were ready to make a difficult and disappointing decision when we received some key support at just the right time. Thankfully, this means the 2027 Midwinter Bluegrass Festival is happening!

Midwinter 2027: The Crossroads Edition

This is a pivotal year for Midwinter’s future. We have decided to begin the transition to a nonprofit organization to enable us to seek funds in addition to ticket sales. We are also shortening our 2027 festival to Friday-Saturday(although we may organize some Sunday jams for anyone sticking around!).

Midwinter 2027 is all about bringing our bluegrass family together while helping us build a strong foundation for the future. Any funds raised beyond production costs this year will go directly into a new Reserve Fund. This reserve will help protect Midwinter against rising costs and give us the runway we need as we officially transition into a nonprofit organization over the coming year.

How You Can Be Part of It

Midwinter has always belonged to the community that fills the rooms and hallways with music. If you’re looking for ways to lend a hand and help us build a bridge to 2028 and beyond, here is how you can help:

  • Join Us in 2027: The absolute best way to support Midwinter is to be in the room! Your ticket purchase directly powers the festival and our new reserve fund. Buy your tickets HERE. We will be announcing our headliners this week, but you can buy your tickets now! You're going to love the lineup!!

  • Make a Direct Contribution: If you are in a position to give extra, you can pledge to donate directly to our reserve fund at when you buy your tickets. CBMS is acting as our fiscal sponsor while we get our nonprofit status. So donated to Midwinter HERE will be 100% tax deductible.

  • Sponsor an Expense: Local business owners or supporters can help sponsor specific needs, like sound equipment or sponsoring a stage act. Reach out to us if you’d like to sponsor or connect us with someone who might!

  • Spread the Word: Invite your music friends and picking circles, share our updates on social media, and help us fill every seat!

We are so grateful for your support and the energy and love this community has brought to Midwinter over the years. With your help, 2027 won't just be a fantastic weekend of bluegrass—it will make sure our yearly family reunion continues for many years to come.

With deep gratitude,

Dianne Stober, Ben Slocumb, and The Midwinter Bluegrass Festival Team
